Hey all, I've been almost a lurker lately thanks to pouring everything into getting my business up & running, (dudes! my frozen Dip is patent pending now - squeeee!) but our awesome and incredible Brain Sims is holding a rally for LOVE over HATE in Love Park at 2 PM tomorrow.
Chrislove wrote an awesome, comprehensive diary, which also references librarisingnsf, mconvente, and Jen Hayden's previous diaries, so I won't try to outwrite the far-more-gifted.. which is ALL of them. I just want to see who's up for a Kossacks group to come out and support Brian Sims. He rocks.
Now, let me just say, I'm getting married in less than 10 days, AND I'm catering my own wedding, AND baking my own wedding cake, AND I'm supposed to be getting my hair color fixed tomorrow (Geek wedding? Absolutely. Mad Max skunks streaks? Hell no.), and yet, I'm going to make the time to haul my bridezilla self all the way downtown from Montgomery County to show my support. So who's in? To sweeten the deal, I can bring my cheesesteak dip and buffalo chicken dip if any Ivy League-sized brains out there (cough mconvente cough) know how to power-up dueling Crockpots from a single Ford Explorer cigarette lighter... so the snacks are my treat. I'm going to bring my daughter with me. Her school is off tomorrow for Rosh Hashanah, (and this will be her first political rally... what a wonderful way to introduce her into engaged citizenship - a rally for Love over Hate!)
God knows Brian Sims has, of course, been a proud and passionate advocate for LGBT rights. But he's worked tirelessly for so much more than just that incredibly important issue: Sims has stood up for ALL of us - he's stood in solidarity with staunch and unwavering support for our school children, for our school system and teachers, for women, and for making Philadelphia, and Pennsylvania, and the world a better place. This is a guy who should be President someday. Brian Sims is good people, and he's earned our support - and I'm not even one of his constituents (at least, not yet!)
So, youse got something BETTER to do tomorrow? Really?
